CienciAmérica follows the authorship criteria established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and recognizes as authors only those individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the scholarly work.
Authorship must be based exclusively on significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the study, as well as to the drafting or critical revision of the manuscript.
To be recognized as an author, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:
Have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
Have participated in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
Have approved the final version of the manuscript prior to submission and publication.
Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to ensure that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Contributions such as acquisition of funding, general supervision of the research group, administrative support, data collection, or technical assistance alone do not qualify an individual for authorship. These contributions should be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section, where appropriate.
All individuals who meet the authorship criteria must be listed as authors, and those who do not meet these criteria must not be included as authors.
CienciAmérica requires all authors to provide a clear description of their individual contributions at the time of manuscript submission.
The corresponding author is responsible for:
ensuring that all listed authors meet the authorship criteria defined by the ICMJE,
confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript, and
Any changes to the authorship list after manuscript submission, including additions, removals, or changes in author order, must be approved in writing by all authors involved and must be justified to the Editor.
