Abstract

INTRODUCTION. Internal organizational communication is a key process within companies because it facilitates the achievement of strategic objectives, however, in practice this system is managed in an empirical way, which is detrimental to other organizational processes. OBJECTIVE. To determine the situation of internal organizational communication in productive sector organizations in Quito city. MÉTHOD. A descriptive study was conducted to analyze seven dimensions related to internal organization communication, the study counted with a sample formed by 48 companies with 1080 subjects, belonging to different sectors, with different organizational structures, billing sizes and volume. The Communication Evaluation Survey instrument was applied, from Concordia University. The analysis of its reliability properties resulted in a Cronbach's alpha of .948, media is 3.253 and standard deviation is 1.267. RESULTS. In general, there is a moderate satisfaction rate with this subject in the companies involved in this research. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. The analyzed data concluded that the internal communication channels considered as the best organizational practices were e-mail, meetings and instant messaging. The demographic indicators show that the employees between 18 to 30 years old, have the highest level of satisfaction related to internal organizational communication; also, employees who work at the companies less than a year, as well as, those who work more than 15 years, report higher level than their co-workers. Sending and receiving information from the boss is the most evident need, because it is considered a key source.
