Abstract

INTRODUCTION. This research analyzes the relationship between thinking styles and leadership styles that are exercised in SMEs and how this relationship affects the effectiveness of management. SMEs have been analyzed in different ways, never the way of thinking of entrepreneurs and how this dimension is related to their way of leading and in turn affects management in organizations. OBJECTIVE. Determine the relationship of thought styles with leadership styles and how this in turn determines the level of management of micro, small and medium-sized companies. METHOD. The research has been developed under a quantitative approach. 382 organizations whose management is relatively positive have been analyzed. RESULTS. The direct relationship of the styles of thought with the styles of leadership has been verified, in addition that this relationship generates an ineffective level of management. Four predominant thinking styles have been detected. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. It is important to analyze the problem of SMEs from another perspective, not in the structural sense but under the critical analysis of the conduct and behavior of entrepreneurs to explain their results.
